The Case of the Silent Partner from Perry Mason aired October 26, 1957. Perry Mason by Erle Stanley Gardner, a civil rights lawyer turned author, was the master of American mystery fiction. His mysteries contain intricate and challenging plots full of surprises, whodunits in the best tradition. 85 of his 146 books feature Perry Mason. The fictional attorney became the basis of a popular TV series, achieving an enviable record for winning his cases. At the height of his popularity Gardner was selling an average of 26,000 copies of his novels a day.In Silent Partner, successful florist Mildred Faulkner finds that the flower business is no bed of roses when arch-competitor Harry Peavis secretly buys stock in her small, family-owned business. To keep from being muscled out of her own company, Mildred goes to Perry Mason. But the legal eagle is stymied when Mildred's company is plundered by her brother-in-law to pay off gambling debts.
