Lux Radio Theater 39-03-20 (211) It Happened One Night (HQ)

Director Frank Capra's 1934 "It Happened One Night" is an opposites-attract romantic comedy featuring two big stars, Clark Gable as Peter Warne and Claudette Colbert as Ellen "Ellie" Andrews. He's a no-nonsense journalist; she's a sheltered heiress. They strike a bargain: he gets her exclusive story, she gets an escort back to the marriage her father wants her to annul. The film was the winner of five Academy Awards (Oscars) and was number eight on the American Film Institute's (AFI) Funniest Films list.

Lux Radio Theater brought it to radio March 20, 1939 with the original actors in their roles: Clark Gable, Claudette Colbert, Walter Connolly and Roscoe Karns. This is a good one!

The Three Investigators - Secret of Terror Castle

The Three Investigators was an American juvenile detective book series first published as "Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators." It was created by Robert Arthur, Jr., who believed using a famous figure like movie director Hitchcock would attract attention.

The Secret of Terror Castle is about three boys investigating a known haunted house, Terror Castle, in hopes that perhaps Alfred Hitchcock would use it in his upcoming movie. During their investigations, they find very scary and seemingly real activities going on in the abandoned house, such as the Fog of Fear and the Blue Phantom.

Not much is known about this radio adaptation, probably from the early 60's, but is one your sure to enjoy.

The Story Of Hopalong Cassidy

Hopalong Cassidy is a fictional cowboy-hero, created in 1904 by Clarence E. Mulford and appearing in a series of popular stories and novels. In print, the character appears as a rude, rough-talking 'galoot'. Beginning in 1935, the character, played by William Boyd was transformed into the clean-cut hero of a series of 66 immensely popular films, only a few of which were based on Mulford's works. Mulford actually rewrote his earlier stories to fit the movie conception, and these led in turn to a comic book series modeled after the films. This story is about Hoppy portrayed on the screen. The juvenile lead was played by James Ellison, Russell Hayden, or Rand Brooks. Gabby Hayes originally played Cassidy's grizzled sidekick Windy Halliday. After Hayes left the series due to a salary dispute with producer Harry Sherman, he was replaced by comedian Britt Wood as Speedy McGinnis, and finally by veteran movie comedian Andy Clyde as California Carlson. Clyde, the most durable of the sidekicks, remained with the series until it ended.
