The Lone Ranger is an American radio and television show created by George W. Trendle and developed by writer Fran Striker. The eponymous character is a masked Texas Ranger in the American Old West, originally played by Paul Halliwell, who gallops about righting injustices with the aid of his clever, laconic Indian sidekick, Tonto. Departing on his white horse Silver, the Ranger would famously say "Hi-yo, Silver, away!" as the horse galloped toward the setting sun.

William Conrad interview on Spotlight On A Star aired December 15, 1969. William Conrad (September 27, 1920 – February 11, 1994), (born John William Cann Jr.) was an American actor and narrator in radio, film and television noted for his baritone voice, as well as for his sizable girth. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky. Starting work in radio in the late 1930s in California, Conrad went on to serve as a fighter pilot in World War II. He returned to the airwaves after the war, going on to accumulate over 7,000 roles in radio by his own estimate. Conrad's deep, resonant voice led to a number of noteworthy roles in radio drama, most prominently his originating the role of Marshal Matt Dillon on the Western program Gunsmoke from 1952-61. Conrad died from congestive heart failure at age 73 in Los Angeles, California and is interred at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills Cemetery in the Lincoln Terrace, Plot Number 4448. He was elected to the Radio Hall of Fame in 1997.

Throughout the early 1940s on American Radio, Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce performed as Holmes and Watson, respectively, in several series of canonical and original Sherlock Holmes stories on the The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes radio show. These broadcasts were loosely based on Doyle's cases. When Rathbone finally departed the role before the 1947 season, Tom Conway played Sherlock Holmes opposite Nigel Bruce for one season. After a change of networks, there were two more pairings: John Stanley as Holmes and Alfred Shirley as Watson in 1947-1948 and John Stanley and Ian Martin in 1948-1949.

The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams, was adapted for radio by Theater Guild on the Air, September 16, 1951 starring Helen Hayes and Montgomery Clift. It was broadcast from the landmark Belasco Theater in New York City. A son longs to escape from his stifling home, where his genteel mother worries about the future prospects of his lame, shy sister. The depth of feeling manifested in the acting on this radio version from Theater Guild on the Air is one not to miss. It is very well done and entertaining. Also this version was the world premiere for radio.

Granby's Green Acres 50-03-30 Granby Quits His Job (HQ)

Granby's Green Acres was a 13-episode radio series that starred Gale Gordon and Bea Benaderet as a big-city family who move to the country. Parley Baer played Eb, the hired hand. You might remember Benaderet as Cousin Pearl Bodine (Jethro's mother) in the TV series The Beverly Hillbillies and on Petticoat Junction. Also she was the voice of Betty Rubble on the cartoon series The Flintstones. Gordon played the second Mr. Wilson (after the death of Joseph Kearns) on Dennis the Menace. When that show ended in spring 1963, Gordon joined The Lucy Show as Mooney for the 1963-64 season. Granby's Green Acres was the basis for Green Acres, the American television series that was produced by Filmways, Inc. and originally broadcast on CBS from September 15, 1965 to September 7, 1971.
